Charming French Art Nouveau C. 1900 6 Solid Silver Goblet Cups United Strength
Charming French Art Nouveau Circa 1900 6 Solid Silver Goblet Cups "Strength Through Unity" Original Fully Hallmarked! The sides of the goblets are marked with the Minerva head in octagonal field which indicate they are French silver of sterling caliber 0.925. Minerva is the Roman Goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts, trade and strategy, she is the Roman equivalent to the greek goddess Athena, so quiet a coincidence to be placed on these goblets with the theme of Strength Through Unity! The bottom of the goblets are marked by the artist silver-smith with the letters ARD where the R is dissected by a cane, the marks are that of Crossard & Dogit. Total approximate weight of the six goblets is 109.2 grams. Approximate height of each goblet 4.1 cm, with an upper surface diameter of approximately 3.4 cm.
The theme of a band tied together symbolizes the ancient motto Strength Through Unity , a very popular theme for families and comrades of ancient times, a lmost lost in our unfortunate modern world. I have seen machine made copies of these goblets (not original) which weigh much less since those are comprised of compressed silver, unlike these original heavy cast mold duplicates.
These goblets would be great for celebrating Christmas with family or friends! The goblets are un-engraved which add to their rarity and allows you to dedicate them as you please! Please feel free to check out my other. The item "Charming French Art Nouveau C.
